First, understand what you are buying
This is not a glamorous device you touch every day. Its value appears when equipment locks up, power becomes unstable or a technician needs to diagnose the rack without making an unnecessary trip.
It is not battery backup by itself. A compatible WattBox UPS is added when the system needs runtime during an outage.
The rack can report abnormal power, restart one frozen component and give the service team better information before a visit.
The hardware
One unit gives every device a known place
Each connected component can be named in OvrC—router, network switch, Control4 controller, camera recorder or streaming player. A technician can then see what is drawing power and restart the correct outlet without interrupting the whole rack.

What SEC changes
Traditional surge components can wear as they absorb electrical events. The 900 Series combines non-sacrificial Surge Elimination Circuit protection on line-to-neutral with additional MOV protection modes. The goal is consistent protection over the life of the installed system—not a power strip that quietly becomes a weak link.
This still does not make the rack immune to every electrical problem. Grounding, circuit quality, installation and the rest of the power plan remain important.
What better service looks like day to day
The most useful WattBox 900 features happen in software. The system records behavior, alerts the service team and makes a controlled reset possible without asking a homeowner to find the correct plug.
OvrC sees an alert, lost device or abnormal power condition.
The technician checks the device, outlet history and network before acting.
Only the affected outlet is restarted, manually or through an approved automation.
The service record is clearer if a site visit or replacement is truly needed.
WattBox 900, 800, 820 or a UPS?
These products solve different parts of the power plan. The right choice comes from the actual equipment list, circuit, rack space and uptime requirement—not simply choosing the newest or largest number.

Denali’s rule: protect and control the rack first; add battery backup when the client has a real uptime goal. We separate critical network and automation loads from amplifiers and other high-draw equipment so useful runtime is not wasted.

What happens when the utility power goes out?
Pairing the 900 Series with a compatible OvrC UPS adds battery health alerts, on-battery notifications, remote alarm silencing and smart load shedding. The system can keep the modem, router, switch and automation controller online while shutting down less important loads first.

Questions homeowners ask
Is WattBox 900 a UPS?
No. It provides managed power, protection, metering and remote outlet control. A compatible UPS is a separate component that adds temporary battery runtime.
Can I restart equipment myself?
Denali can provide selected device resets and approved macros in the OvrC Connect customer app. Critical equipment should stay protected from accidental resets.
How much rack space does it need?
The WB-900-SEC-IPVM-12 is officially listed as 2U, approximately 17.32 inches wide, 3.46 inches high and 8.39 inches deep. The rack also needs sensible cable routing, ventilation and service access.
Does it work with Control4 or URC?
The 900 Series supports IP and Telnet APIs and is designed to integrate with professional control platforms including Control4 and URC. The final driver and programming scope are confirmed during system design.
